An 8oz cup of black tea usually contains about 47mg of caffeine according to the Mayo Clinic. Compared that to about 28-38mg of caffeine in 8oz of green tea.

Black tea, also translated to Red tea in various Asian languages, is a type of tea that is more oxidized than oolong, yellow, white and green teas. Black tea is generally stronger in flavor than other teas. All five types are made from leaves of the shrub Camellia sinensis.

One of my favorite drinks is a Hong Kong style milk tea. It’s made with black tea (every restaurant or cafe seems to have their own secret recipe or blend!) and either evaporated milk or condensed milk. That’s the recipe in its simplest form. But there are some nuances in how to brew the most delicious cup! I’ll write up a more detailed post later and link here.
